We encourage anyone interested in the Twentynine Palms-area history to drop by.

Our collection includes:

  • A collection of over 500 books and many photographs related to our area
  • Nearly every edition of The Desert Trail newspaper (April 18, 1935-present)
  • All issues of the Out Post (July 14, 1932–26 May 26, 1934)
  • Assorted issues of the 29 Palms News (May 5, 1960-October 14, 1976)
  • Twentynine Palms High School yearbooks
  • All issues of the original Desert Magazine plus an index
  • People vertical files — biographies, family histories, newspaper clippings, etc.
  • Numerous local organizational records and publications, including digital copies of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center’s Observation Post newspaper
  • Oral History Interviews

Research Library and Archives are open to the public Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon and the last Saturday of the Month from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. No appointment necessary.
