Moving the School House, the story of how the Old Schoolhouse Museum made its journey here. An illustrated talk by Dana Bowden. For a sweet reminder of that momentous Saturday in April 1992, revisit Huell Howser’s California Gold coverage of the big day.

Friday, October 16, 2026, 6 pm
Jim Hinckly, the renowned Route 66 historian, brings his Route 66 Chronicles to Founders Hall for the 100th anniversary of Route 66, with A Visit With Jim (Buick, Bicycles, and Manure: Dawn of the Motor Age). And on Saturday, October 17, 9 am, a book signing and conversation about Route 66 and road trips with Jim at the 29 Palms Beer Company, 73565 29 Palms Hwy.

Steve Reyes, author of the recent book Four Miles East Of Bagdad presents an illustrated talk, Harold & Lucile Weight: A Desert Love Story, with newly published photographs by Harold Weight gathered from the MDCHA Collection.
